Why drive fully automated in the future?
Today: Assisted and partially automated driving.
On the road to fully automated driving with the latest assistance systems.
Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive turns your vehicle into a thinking partner. Innovative assistance systems monitor the environment and process data from cameras and sensors such as ultrasound and radar, as well as from map data and route events. They can indicate impending dangers, such as known traffic jams, warn the driver and even steer and brake automatically. For the highest level of safety that can be implemented at the moment.

Tomorrow: Conditionally automated driving.
The new DRIVE PILOT in the S-Class and the EQS.
The DRIVE PILOT makes it possible to hand over the driving task to the system under certain conditions during heavy traffic or congestion situations on suitable motorway sections in Germany up to a speed of 60 km/h. The DRIVE PILOT can also be used to control the speed of the vehicle. The DRIVE PILOT thus offers the ultimate driving experience. You can relax or work and regain valuable time.
With the DRIVE PILOT, Mercedes-Benz is the world's first car manufacturer with an internationally valid certification for conditionally automated driving to offer this type of system as an option ex works for vehicles from series production.
The five levels of automated driving
Assisted, partially automated, conditionally automated, fully automated, autonomous: these terms describe the five stages on the way to an autonomous vehicle, as distinguished internationally according to the valid SAE standard (Society of Automotive Engineers - American standardisation institute).
The day after tomorrow: Fully automated driving
Our vision of fully automated driving and the way to get there.
Fully automated driving will play a central role in the future and fundamentally revolutionise the car, supported by artificial intelligence. A number of Mercedes-Benz concept vehicles and prototypes have long since proven that the technical prerequisites are in place and fulfil their function.
