History

Cabriolets from Mercedes-Benz: traditionally innovative.

The history of Mercedes-Benz cabriolets and roadsters is characterized by constant development. From around 1920, the term "cabriolet" was used to describe sporty vehicles with up to four seats and an open top. In 1957, the famous 300 SL Roadster established our brand's long tradition of open-top vehicles, which continues to this day. Since then, our cabriolets and roadsters have become synonymous with elegant sportiness and excellent comfort.

Q & A

Learn more about our cabriolets and roadsters.

Our passion for remarkable vehicles is reflected in a special way in our range of cabriolets and roadsters for every requirement. Experience comfort, luxury and performance in the open air with the CLE Cabriolet as well as the Mercedes-AMG SL Roadster. Driving pleasure and suitability for everyday use are not mutually exclusive, but can coexist with ease. We are looking forward to your decision.

A cabriolet is an open vehicle with a fabric soft top and up to five seats. It is based on the coupé variant of a model series. By contrast, a roadster has a separate body and represents a mostly two-seater vehicle in a sporty design with a low seating position.

Besides driving pleasure, all cabriolets and roadsters from Mercedes-Benz are designed for a high level of long-distance comfort for the passengers. The aerodynamics and optional systems such as the electric AIRCAP draft stop or the AIRSCARF headroom heating ensure that you can enjoy driving outdoors even in cold conditions.
