Trailblazing athleticism: with a top speed of 310 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, the Mercedes-AMG GT S leaves practically everyone else behind. There are three setting levels for the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension ranging from comfort-oriented to sportily firm. Other highlights include the electronic AMG limited-slip rear-axle differential and the additional RACE drive program which readies the vehicle systems for use on the racetrack.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R demonstrates AMG's expertise in both development and racing and further expands the limits of dynamic performance – as a result AMG's DNA is even more clearly discernible. AMG 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine

Located in the central section of the vehicle, the front mid-engine has a dry weight of just 209 kg. It is installed low down within the aluminium spaceframe for a low centre of gravity.

A transaxle configuration means that the engine is connected to the dual-clutch transmission behind it as a fixed unit – for perfect balance. With dry sump lubrication, the major assembly also ensures optimum oil supply even under powerful lateral acceleration.

Torque tube

The front mid-engine forms a fixed unit with the dual-clutch transmission. The components are connected by a flexurally and torsionally rigid torque tube.

Inside there is an extremely lightweight, torsionally stiff drive shaft made of carbon fibre. It transmits the output of the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G, which ultimately transforms the power into acceleration. Inconceivably fast and breathtaking.

AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension

The AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive damping – standard for the Mercedes-AMG GT S, GT C and GT R – is a combination of bold performance and first-rate refinement.

When combined with a double wishbone concept it enables racetrack performance featuring excellent lateral dynamics and driving stability at high speeds. It adjusts the damping characteristics at each individual wheel to the driving style and condition of the road.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission boasts lightning gear-changing, emotional double declutching and racing-standard performance: the sportier the mode, the more agile the response.

Only minor engine speed changes from gear to gear allow adaptations to the transmission ratio and fast gearshifts without interrupting the tractive power. Seven gears, three driving programs, a manual mode, double-declutching and the RACE START function provide exhilarating dynamic acceleration manoeuvres.

Due to its front-mid engine and AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G with transaxle configuration, the Mercedes-AMG GT achieves an optimal weight distribution of 47% to 53% between the front and rear axle. Combined with a low vehicle centre of gravity, this ensures exceptionally agile handling and high cornering speeds. Ultimately, races are won in the curves.

These are the ingredients of the Mercedes-AMG GT's body in white. The spaceframe consists largely of aluminium and weighs only 231 kilograms. An innovative architecture which is light, robust and extremely rigid in one. That is a prerequisite for the best possible lateral and longitudinal dynamics and maximum steering precision. The extremely lightweight front module is made of magnesium, reduces the inertia forward of the front axle and thus optimises the sports car's agility.

Aerodynamics.

The aerodynamics concept of the Mercedes-AMG GT, developed with motorsport know-how, supports the driver when adopting a dynamic and safe driving style. It combines aerodynamic stability with low wind resistance and incorporates sufficient cooling and a supply of air for all components. The AIRPANEL in the front apron and the electrically extending rear aerofoil actively adjust the aerodynamics to the current driving situation.

The high-performance composite brake system of the Mercedes-AMG GT is characterised by excellent deceleration values, precise sensitivity and high fading resistance. The large, internally ventilated, perforated and grooved brake discs combine high temperature resistance and low weight.
