The standard-specification AMG sport seats in the Mercedes-AMG GT give the driver and passenger good support even during extreme lateral acceleration, and at the same time offer a high level of seating comfort.

Distinctive contours, AMG badges and the integral head restraints on the AMG sport seats underline the sporty look. AMG rear axle steering.
The AMG rear axle steering supports the driver in every situation and in every speed range. At up to 100 km/h the rear wheels countersteer – the driver experiences this like a virtual wheelbase reduction, which ensures first-class agility during sudden changes of direction. When parking, too, you benefit from a smaller turning circle with noticeably reduced steering effort required.

From 100 km/h the rear wheels steer in the same direction as the front wheels. This makes the vehicle even easier to control and increases driving stability at the limits of dynamic performance. The faster lateral force build-up compared to an unsteered rear axle can actually result in improved lap times on the racetrack for driving pros.

50 years of driving performance.
Mercedes-AMG is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2017. To mark "50 Years of Driving Performance", the sports car and performance brand is releasing a new addition to the AMG GT sports car family in the shape of the new Mercedes-AMG GT C Edition 50. "The AMG GT C Edition 50 sees us expanding our portfolio of sports cars to six models now, plus the AMG GT3 racing car for customer sports. In less than three years, we've made a family that includes our second vehicle to have been developed entirely in-house," says Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

AMG limited-slip rear-axle differential.
As standard the AMG GT C Edition 50 comes with an electronic limited-slip rear-axle differential, which is integrated into the compact transmission housing. The speed and precision of control push the physical limits of what is possible even further. As well as improving the traction of the driven wheels, cornering speeds at the limits of performance are also higher.

AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension.
Featuring a threaded section, the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension makes it possible to personalise a favourite set-up and choose the ideal configuration for the route. What's more, on the Mercedes-AMG GT C Edition 50 the spring rate can be adjusted manually via the threaded section prior to the journey. The combined adaptive damping is electronically controlled. Here the damping system adjusts automatically to the actual handling situation, speed and road conditions at each wheel. Furthermore, the driver can pre-select characteristics at the touch of a button in the AMG DRIVE UNIT or by using the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs. There are three stages available: Comfort, Sport and Sport+.

Rarely do facts sound as thrilling as the figures for the Edition 50. For maximum adrenaline, the 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine in the Mercedes-AMG GT C Edition 50 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. With an output of 410 kW (557 hp) the high-performance power unit delivers a peak torque of 680 Nm.

AMG 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine

Located in the central section of the vehicle, the front mid-engine has a dry weight of just 209 kg. It is installed low down within the aluminium spaceframe for a low centre of gravity.

A transaxle configuration means that the engine is connected to the dual-clutch transmission behind it as a fixed unit – for perfect balance. With dry sump lubrication, the major assembly also ensures optimum oil supply even under powerful lateral acceleration.

Torque tube

The front mid-engine forms a fixed unit with the dual-clutch transmission. The components are connected by a flexurally and torsionally rigid torque tube.

Inside there is an extremely lightweight, torsionally stiff drive shaft made of carbon fibre. It transmits the output of the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, which ultimately transforms the power into acceleration. Inconceivably fast and breathtaking.

AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension

The AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with adaptive damping – which is part of the standard equipment for the Mercedes-AMG GT S – is a combination of bold performance and first-rate refinement.

When combined with a double wishbone concept it enables racetrack performance featuring excellent lateral dynamics and driving stability at high speeds. It adjusts the damping characteristics at each individual wheel to the driving style and condition of the road.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission enables immediate gear changes and racing-level performance: the sportier the mode, the more agile the response time.

Only minor engine speed changes from gear to gear allow adaptations to the transmission ratio and fast gearshifts without interrupting the tractive power. Seven gears, three driving programs, a manual mode, double-declutching and the RACE START function provide exhilarating dynamic acceleration manoeuvres.

AMG composite braking system

The AMG high-performance composite braking system offers excellent deceleration values and precision braking with its internally vented and cross-drilled brake discs.

Benefits of the optional AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system: it saves on weight (17 kg), has a longer service life and even better stability.

Due to its front-mid engine and AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with transaxle configuration, the Mercedes-AMG GT achieves an optimal weight distribution of 47% to 53% between the front and rear axle. Combined with a low vehicle centre of gravity, this ensures exceptionally agile handling and high cornering speeds. Ultimately, races are won in the curves.

The innovative architecture is simultaneously lightweight, strong and extremely rigid. That is a prerequisite for the best possible lateral and longitudinal dynamics and maximum steering precision. The extremely lightweight front module is made of magnesium, reduces the inertia forward of the front axle and thus optimises the sports car's agility.
