BlueEFFICIENCY from Mercedes-Benz stands for pioneering efficiency technology as well as innovative packages of measures based on optimising fuel consumption and emission levels.

BlueEFFICIENCY measures

The S-Class is equipped with a wealth of diverse BlueEFFICIENCY features and environment-friendly technologies, depending on the engine.

These are, for instance:

  • ECO Start/stop function (S 350 BlueTEC and S 63 AMG)
  • Energy-efficient auxiliary units (power steering pump, and oil and water pump)
  • Alternator management with energy recuperation when braking
  • Tyres with optimised rolling resistance
  • Ratio-optimised transmission with standstill decoupling
  • Improved aerodynamics, e.g. sealed headlamp joints and redesigned exterior mirror housing

Efficiency technologies in the S-Class

Direct injection, downsizing, increased compression and turbocharging in the new engine generation enable top torque, output and noise reduction figures. Innovative engine technology makes it possible to significantly reduce emissions and fuel consumption compared with previous models.
