The electric tilting/sliding glass sunroof, including double sunblinds on the rear doors, which allow for a pleasant amount of light, is a standard feature on the R500 and an option on the R350 CDI. The efficient air conditioning system makes long journeys aboard the new R-Class all the more comfortable. The standard-specification newly developed multi-zone THERMOTRONIC system is equipped with over a dozen sensors as well as an auxiliary booster blower. The system is able to faithfully maintain the temperatures set by the driver, the front passenger and the occupants in the rear.

The 6 CD changer which is MP3-compatible, is a standard feature and extends from the glove compartment, and includes eight loudspeakers. Optional on both models is the superior COMAND APS including a 6.5” screen, navigation DVD and CD player with compass function indicated on the instrument cluster of the COMAND screen. A reversing camera can be ordered in conjunction with the COMAND APS.

For customers with a preference for superior sound, the harmon/kardon LOGIC7 surround sound system with 11 loudspeakers and sub-woofer, including digital surround sound processing, is an option.

The R350 CDI is fitted standard with 18-inch 5-twin spoke light alloy wheels and the R500 has 19-inch 5-spoke light alloy wheels painted sterling silver. A collapsible spare wheel is fitted standard together with a tyre pressure loss warning system.

The speed-dependent power steering and front seats which are electrically adjustable for height, cushion angle and backrest angle are standard features. Parktronic is a further feature included in the long list of standard equipment.

Mercedes-Benz offers a number of optional equipment items for the new R-Class, which include the Bi-Xenon headlamps with Active light system and cornering light function, headlamp cleaning system and dynamic headlamp range adjustment system (standard on the R500). A rear seat entertainment system, with two 7” monitors integrated in the back of the front head restraints & DVD player with 2 sets of headphones is a further optional extra.

A wide range of optional extras allow customers to appoint and upgrade their R-Class to suit their personal taste. In addition to the AIRMATIC package, options include a styling chrome package for the exterior of the R500.
