Mercedes-Benz is the only manufacturer to receive ISO certified TÜV environmental certificates. These assess a vehicle’s overall environmental impact, from production to disposal, and have so far been awarded to the C-Class Saloon and Estate,
S-Class, A-Class and B-Class.
The S-Class, for example, emits 9% less CO2 than its predecessor. It uses less energy, saving the equivalent of 2,500 litres of petrol over its lifecycle. And it makes extensive use of recycled plastics and renewable natural fibres.
Likewise, the C-Class Saloon’s CO2 emissions are down by 15% and lifetime energy savings amount to around 3,800 litres of petrol. Up to 85% of the material in the C-Class is recyclable and 95% is reusable. And Nitrogen Oxide, Hydrocarbon, and diesel particle emissions have all been reduced.
