CNG Buses

What is CNG ?

How safe is CNG

Compressed natural gas mixes with air and becomes flammable only when the mixture is within 5 and 15 percent of natural gas to air.
Below 5 percent, natural gas does not burn.
Greater than 15 percent not enough oxygen to allow natural gas to burn.
Natural gas is lighter than air and dissipates when released from containment.

Benefits

  • Natural gas is produced at relatively low cost.
  • The gas is cleaner burning than petrol or diesel.
  • Natural gas vehicles show an average reduction in ozone forming emissions of 80 percent compared to petrol and/or diesel vehicles.
